October 3 Meeting – Tom Pellett, Bugs & Plant Exchange
Beginning at 6:00pm, join us in the garden to celebrate the Big Bugs at the Garden display. The Memphis Horticultural Society is sponsoring the giant Spider (see pictures below) located between My Big Backyard & The Live Garden (Look up!). The Spider is 12’ long x 12’ wide x 3’ high and weighs 135 lbs. It is constructed of Red Cedar, Black Walnut and Willow. Trams to and from the Spider will be available. The usual pre-meeting refreshments will be served at the Spider! See https://www.memphisbotanicgarden.com/bigbugs for more information on the display.
We’ll move back to the Goldsmith Room at 6:45 to be in place at 7:00 when Tom Pellett, Memphis Garden Designer, takes us on a tour of England’s 21-acre Fletcher Moss Park, its garden collection of unusual plants and flowers and the adjacent Parsonage Gardens. Tom will also highlight nearby Hare Hill.
For more information, see http://www.fletchermossgardens.org.uk/ and https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/hare-hill.
Plant Exchange! October is also our Plant Exchange month. We are asking each member to contribute at least one plant. Each member who brings plants will be able to choose the same number from those contributed. This is the way the exchange was done in April.
